Screencast: Facebook Connect Social Shopping on Magento
Here’s a quick (<2:30) screencast showing the basic functionality of Facebook Connect Social Shopping, a Magento Extension Optaros developed and released under an open source license. (Click the fullscreen icon to see it in a more legible size).
What do you think?
What’s holding retailers back from letting users get reviews from their social graph, not just from random strangers?
What would you like to see in future releases?

I miss the fullscreen icon …

Chris – it’s the one which looks like this:
It’s just to the left of the volume icon.
If you don’t see such an icon, what browser are you using, on which OS?

John, now it works. Maybe it was just a temporary problem. At my last visit I just saw a non-clickable scrrenshot, not a video. Don’t know why, but now everything is fine. Thank you, John.

I noticed in the overview/installation instructions that you require the “Modern” theme to be selected first.
Please tell me that this module is not them dependent, that would be exceptionally poor design.
October 7th, 2009 at 11:53 am
John – Regarding the “Modern” theme, it wouldn’t be difficult to alter/move the code into other themes after installation. We are in the process of testing other themes in future stable releases.

Vipul – The paid module that you linked appears to enhance Magento’s user registration process with Facebook Connect integration. Our offering serves a different purpose: it allows users to solicit feedback on products from their Facebook friends.

Great App. Using it. Thank You

Great work guys! Social shopping is definitely the next thing ahead..
I think combining the features of http://www.magentocommerce.com/extension/packages/module/1733/facebook-connect-magento-module with this module would be fantastic. I wouldn’t mind paying upto $200 to purchase such a combined module!
Cheers

Hmm, looks like the app is no longer available for download?
November 18th, 2009 at 12:25 pm
@rick – not aware of any change made – might be worth asking in the appropriate forum in the Magento community if you’re finding issues
November 18th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
Hmm, maybe it’s just too early and I haven’t had my morning coffee :)
Can you fire over the url to download the extension? Can find it on this particular thread. thanks!

Is there any fix for Magento 1.4 CE release?
The module is able to connect and send messages from my shop but no message found in Facebook.
Moreover, is there a way to debug the code? How can I understand what’s going wrong?
Thanks a lot,
Paolo
